An Open Letter to Senator Rand Paul, Republican/KY

Hello Everyone:

I wrote Sen. Paul an e-mail, because his office has stopped picking up their phone for calls from voters and his voicemail box is full, asking him to support the movement within the Senate to investigate Donald Trump’s collusion with Russian spy services to subvert the American election the way Russia has corrupted or sought to corrupt elections throughout the free world.  In exchange, I got a newsletter ignoring my original concerns, and instead praising Sen. Paul’s efforts to weaken environmental protections (enjoy your leaded water!), to “broaden the tax base” by shifting taxes away from the rich and onto the middle class and the poor, and to ram through even the least competent of #Dolt45’s Cabinet appointees without even a tenth of the “extreme vetting” that seems appropriate for a Syrian infant escaping bombing by Russian jets.

I attempted to respond to Sen Paul’s newsletter, but, big surprise, the reply bounced.  It seems he doesn’t want to hear from his constituents in that manner either; he only wants us to shut up and listen.  Rather than let my efforts go totally to waste, I’m posting my reply to him here.

Dear Sen. Rand Paul, and whatever staffer might happen to get this message:

The party and the senator that stands with Russia, and Russian-style homophobia, Russian-style crony capitalism and kleptocracy, and Russian subversion of the American electoral process (as well as meddling in every other nation’s elections) now wants to boast to me about all he’s done to pollute the environment, to take more money away from the middle-class and the poor by decreasing taxes to the very wealthy while raising them on the middle class and the poor, all he’s done to avoid investigating Trump’s corruption and treason because “it’s a waste of time to investigate your own party,” and so on.  You, sir, are everything that is wrong in America.  Your economic policies failed in Kansas, Louisiana and elsewhere that this trickle-down, voodoo economics has been tried.  The fact that the GOP keeps pushing failed economic policies shows that it isn’t really an “economic” policy at all; if it were, you’d be open to economic data showing you need to correct your extreme policies.  Rather, just as slavery was primarily a tool to control non-whites, your economic policies are a concerted effort to shift economic and political power away from the people and towards the Koch brothers and the other plutocrats.  That is why you don’t care about the widening wealth gap—-it’s not a bug in your system, it’s the goal.  When I first heard of “The Handmaid’s Tale,” I thought it was the most absurd, anti-religious claptrap imaginable.  Then I watched the GOP morph into everything that book and movie warned against.  

Unlike most of you politicians, I have studied both the politics you like to imitate, such as Machiavelli, and the politics our Founding Fathers followed, as laid out in John Locke’s Second Treatise of Civil Government.  I’ve even learned the philosophies of India and China, two economies that are likely to surpass ours in the near future thanks to the Trumpist policies and the economic collapse they will bring.  I know what you are doing, and why, even when many of your rank-and-file drink your Kool-aid and believe your lies about saving America.  You “borrow” from the Social Security trust fund, a fund supported by MY payroll taxes and the taxes of millions of Americans (but not supported by the upper 0.01%, who live off capital gains and interest instead of payroll checks), so you can fund tax cuts for your super-wealthy employers; then you refuse to replace what you borrowed (since that would mean asking those super-wealthy to give back what you gave them), complain that “Social Security is going broke,” and work to end the program and turn it into a bonanza for the wealthy and their stock market.  Of COURSE Social Security is going broke; the GOP is embezzling from it!

God is not mocked.  Read James 5:3-5.  Read Lev. 19:13.  I could give you a dozen different Bible passages that all add up to the same thing:  God cares more about bosses who don’t pay their workers than God cares about abortion.  Still, you choose a president who boasts—BOASTS–about all the people he’s defrauded, all the workers who have labored for him and who he has not paid.  It is so common that corporations regularly refuse or delay paying small businesses that contract with them, because it’s considered “standard practice” to do so.  And you call yourselves the “Christian” party, supported by the “Religious” Right!  God has already announced judgement upon you:  Jeremiah 22:13, 

““Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness,

    and his upper rooms by injustice,
who makes his neighbor serve him for nothing

    and does not give him his wages”

Woe to you!  You are already damned, unless you repent.

Oh, and let’s also talk about immigrants.  God says more to protect the rights of immigrants than God does about abortion and homosexuality combined; Lev. 19:33-34 is just a sample.  You invite God’s judgement against the USA, and have the gall to call yourselves the “Christian” party!  What did John the Baptist say about you? Luke 3:11: “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.”  What did Mary, Holy Mother, say? See Luke 1:52-53.  

If you fear Islam, you should remember that God handed his own people, the Israelites, over to the Assyrians and Babylonians (present-day Iraq) because they were unjust towards their poor neighbors.  As it says in Amos 2:6-7:

 “For three sins of Israel, even for four, I will not relent. They sell the innocent for silver, and the needy for a pair of sandals. 

They trample on the heads of the poor as on the dust of the ground and deny justice to the oppressed.”

 

That is exactly what the GOP does, and that is what the GOP invites upon our land.  Kings have been overthrown and killed for the crimes that you protect, Sen. Paul, by not supporting an investigation of Trump’s personal corruption and his consorting with foreign spymasters.  Nations have been overthrown and handed over to unbelievers, because the “believers” oppressed the poor and emboldened the rich the way the Republicans do now.  Already the ax is laid to the root of the tree; and do not presume to say to yourself, “We are Abraham’s children” or even to say more than that, for God is able to raise up children for Abraham or for Christ from the stones of the ground.  For too long the GOP has pretended they were God’s Own Party, and they handle God like rubbing a lucky rabbit’s foot, trusting that God has no more choice to bless them than the dead rabbit did; but those days are ending.  

 

So please, do not waste the taxpayers’ money—my money—with your foolish boasting, which only shows you to be a student neither of history nor of God.  I am a voter, so you work for me, right?  Do as I say, and investigate Donald J. Trump’s conflicts of interest, his profiteering and cronyism and corruption, and above all his colluding with the Russians during the election campaign; or if you will not because you value party more than nation, as Sen. Paul has said on television that he does, then do not pester me at all.
